One of the joys of my job is I get to walk round stores and listen to the music they're playing. I was in Manchester yesterday and noted the following tracks.
Lisa Loeb - Stay (I Missed You) and Texas - Say What You Want playing in a coffee shop. Both sounded great early in the morning with a flat white.
Ja Rule - Always on Time in a fashion store - it was perfect old school which matched the clothes on display.
And then I went into one of those quirky stores that sells a bit of everything from notebooks to teapots and they were playing something I've NEVER heard in-store in my life. It was playing loud too. It was bold, it was brave and given the eclectic nature of the store... it worked.
